MotionPack from Meds in Motion – Solution to Forgeting to Take My Oral Meds

As part of my diabetes management I take several oral medications. I take:

  • Losartan for High Blood Pressure
  • Atorvastatin for high cholesterol
  • Fenofibrate for high triglycerides

And that’s it…. for now.

I am currently getting these every 90 days, so I usually have a lot of them in the pill bottle at any given time.

I have, unfortunately, forgotten to take my oral medications plenty of times. I try to take them every night after I eat dinner and clean up the mess that I made while either prepping, cooking, or eating dinner.

I’ve tried plenty of things to help me with making sure that I don’t forget pills.

I’ve used my phone calendar, that annoyed me.

I’ve used a weekly pill box, then I forgot to fill the pill box every Sunday.

I’ve used apps to help remind me, then I downloaded another cool app 20 minutes later and forgot all about that other app.

MotionPack

I received an email in November about a company called, Meds in Motion and their service called, MotionPack. They describe themselves as:

“A convenient prescription packaging solution that pre-sorts all of your prescriptions by day and time of day. Each refill is dispensed in a roll of individual packets, labeled with the date and time the pills should be taken to ensure you never forget a dose.”

Whoa, this is exactly what I need.

I decided that I wanted to give them a shot. So, this post is going to be in two-parts. The second part will be after the New Year after I have had a chance to try the service out. This post is strictly an informative one because I feel like this service can help a lot of people.

So, how exactly does all of this work? I had a few questions myself, so I reached out and got a lot of information that I will put into my own words.

Where do the medications come from?

First and foremost, they are a pharmacy. So, they have actual pharmacists that are on staff and they will schedule a phone call consult with you to discuss your medications, medical history, allergies, etc. Once they have this profile information of you, they can then reach out for a prescription and start fulfilling your order.

How much does it cost?

There are no extra fees involved in MotionPack, you just pay for what your prescriptions cost. There is no shipping costs either.

Do I need to remember to re-order?

Absolutely not. MotionPack will automatically refill your prescription and ship a few days before you’re due for a refill. This is a huge bonus for me. I always wait until a day or 2 before I’m out and then there’s always something. No more refills on the RX, have to pick it up the next day because it’s busy and many other issues I’ve come across.

What do the packs look like?

I couldn’t quite picture how the MotionPacks would look. I didn’t know if it would be in a box for the week or what. Well, you can see what the actual packs look like in the image below.

Here are a few more tidbits that sold me that could be helpful for you.

Traveling with Medications

One of the most annoying thing to pack for me when I travel is my medications. I hate having take a 90 day supply pill bottle with me for 3-4 days. “But Chris, why don’t you just take the amount you need.” We’ll, I like taking my pills in the same order, I don’t want to have to separate them before I travel (I pack 30 minutes before I have to leave for the airport), and it’s just annoying.

Well, MotionPack will be much easier to pack because I just grab the pack for however many days I need and bam I’m done. This fits into my 30 minute packing schedule.

Automatic Re-order, Yes Please!

As someone who lives with diabetes, or any chronic condition for that matter, how much time in your life have you spent on the phone with a pharmacy and a doctor trying to get your RX re-ordered. For me? It’s been a lot of time.

MotionPack’s automatical re-order is awesome for me.

It’s the same reason that I love mySugr because they automatically ship out my next batch of test strips.

Here is a video that MotionPack sent to me.
