Ut-oh, those were my exact words when I went to put in a new infusion site tonight. You know why? Because I only have less than one box left of them. I used to have a lot when I worked for that supply company last year. I will never call them or use them for supplies ever, not just because of the way I was let go from them, but for other reasons as well, so I’m not sure where to call. I am getting set up with my Cobra some time next week. Let me get into that quickly as well. I was expecting to pay almost $600 some dollars a month for Cobra, wow was I wrong! The statement came in and said that it is about $300 something a month, but with the new law that came into affect, I am only responsible to pay for 35% of it, so you can do that math on that. I was extremely happy about that.
My questions will come once I get Cobra. Does it act just like my old insurance or is it a whole new insurance, so my supplies and insulin come from a different place again? I haven’t had to order pump supplies in almost 2 years so I don’t remember how to do it. I might go straight through Medtronic, but I’ve had nothing but headaches from them and bills that I never expected, so I’m not sure if I want to do that.
Well once I get it all set up on Monday, I will figure it out. I just need to get some more infusion sets before it is too late.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Using COBRA shouldn’t affect your actual day-to-day experience. I had it for a while and noticed no changes, it’s just that you are paying the portion of the insurance tag your former employer was paying so the insurance company is still getting 100% of your premiums.
Good luck!
