My new diet is very simple and basic concepts. Eat less calories. I know there is a lot of debate out there about low-carb, no carb, gluten free, low fat, low calorie. Whose to say which one is the best? I think the best one is the one that works best for you. I’ve done the low to no carb thing and every day I was feeling light headed by night time, so clearly that wasn’t working for me, but doesn’t mean that it doesn’t work for somebody else.
My diet uses the simple concept of 3,000-ish calories is equal to one pound. So, when I eliminate 3,000 calories somehow, I lose a pound. So, I’ve been on a 1,500 calorie a day diet. Which doesn’t restrict me from anything. If I want to go and have fast food for lunch, than I can, but then I won’t have any calories left over for the rest of the day. Simple and it has worked for me in the past.
The other part of the diet that I have been attempting is to eat less gluten. So, I can’t say that I am exactly gluten-free because I am nowhere near there. However, if I am buying something, let’s say cereal, I will choose the gluten-free option over the one that is not gluten-free.
Small baby steps is the only way to get to a long-term goal.
Way to go on the diet, Chris! I like that system: It’s almost like the old-school Exchange System, but a diet version! I need to get my eating under control on this end… while I’ve never been a fan of low-carb or really any food restrictive meal-planning, I have been becoming more open-minded to low-carb and may start looking into it. We shall see what 2013 brings!
