3,000 Mile Challenge

I have been very competitive my whole life. I don’t know if it stems from being a younger brother and competing with my older brother, or my long athletic career, or even the fact that I run my own business. But one thing that I do know is that I love a good challenge. When I am challenged, either by myself or by somebody else, I seem to turn on a different switch and my body and I am more motivated to do something than if I wasn’t challenged.

So, that leads me to my next challenge. I am challenging myself to ride 3,000 miles in 2013. I do not have a street bike, so I ride an exercise bike, which is not the same, but it’s the only option that I have. My goal when I sit down to ride is anywhere from 5-10 miles, depending on how my back feels halfway through. I also didn’t want to set a challenge too high that I knew that I would never meet.

I will be tracking my miles online so that I can be held accountable for my efforts. I haven’t decided exactly which method to use, but as of right now it has been pen and paper. I’ve reached about 50 miles so far, so I am a bit behind, but I now have an official goal to reach.

This idea came from other challenges that I have seen people do and I think challenges are a lot more fun than just trying to meet a regular goal.

I invite any and all of you to partake in either this challenge or any of your own.

What type of challenges are you involved in for 2013?
